Now you can shop online with complete confidence and peace of mind thanks to Bank of Scotland Secure which helps protect against online fraud. We have joined the global Verified By Visa scheme, a new service that ensures that only you can use your debit card to make purchases on the internet.

How it works.

There's no need to request a new card or download any software, registering for Bank of Scotland Secure is easy and free.

If you do not register here, participating retailers may ask you to register your card whilst completing your purchase.

When you're shopping at a participating retailer, after you've registered, you will be prompted to enter your Bank of Scotland Secure password on a safe and secure pop-up screen before completing your transaction. Just like the PIN for your card, only you will know this password, so only you will be able to authorise your online purchases.

After 3 prompts, if you don't register your password you won't be able to shop at participating retailers' sites. It's important therefore that you pre-register a password for your debit card now, or follow the prompt to register whilst shopping online in order to complete an online purchase.

Which websites use Verified By Visa?
Not all retailers participate in the scheme at the moment, but most will over time. You can visit the Visa website for a list of some of the biggest retailers who are currently part of the scheme.

What if I have already registered but want to change my details?
If you have registered your card already you can log into your Bank of Scotland Secure account here and follow the instructions to check details of your Bank of Scotland Secure transactions, change your passwords and register other cards.
