Don’t forget to protect yourself when travelling
Remember, when you travel abroad that different places take different types of payment. So it’s a good idea to take some currency, travellers cheques and your debit or credit card. For security you should always carry them separately.

If you want to pay directly from your Bank of Scotland bank account or suitable savings account held with us you can either order online by signing into Bank of Scotland online banking or call into one of our branches.

Using your American Express® Travellers Cheques is the safe and hassle-free way to keep your money with you while on holiday. They’re available in the following currencies:

- US dollars
- Euro
- Japanese yen
- Canadian dollars
- Australian dollars
American Express Travellers Cheques offer the convenience and security you need when you’re abroad:
- 24 hour Worldwide Refund Service. Replacement travellers cheques are usually sent to you within 24 hours, wherever you are
- 24 hour American Express Helpline. If you need help while you’re away, details are in your travellers cheque wallet
- American Express Call Before You Go Service. Simply call 0800 52 13 13 to receive information on where best to cash your cheques for free and to get help and advice when you’re away
1% commission (minimum £3.00) applies to sterling travellers cheques.

Your order will be sent by Royal Mail special delivery and is subject to Royal Mail’s special delivery conditions (a copy of which are available from Royal Mail upon request). Different timescales may apply to Scotland and Northern Ireland. We may not be able to guarantee deliveries or collections from certain remote areas within the United Kingdom.

* Working day means Monday to Friday excluding bank and public holidays (and for the avoidance of doubt there are no deliveries on a Sunday or public holidays). Where Monday is a bank holiday your order will be delivered on the next working day.
^If payment is made using a Bank of Scotland or Halifax Debit Card the maximum order per transaction is £1,500. The maximum overall order limit over a 60 day period is £3,000.
