Be on your guard

With all this talk of fraudsters, attacks and threats, you might feel that your computer is constantly under attack.  Don't worry, it's not.  But like us, you should do all that you can to protect yourself in case the worst did happen.

Everything that you read in this section is simple and easy for you to implement.  And here are a few more simple tips to keep you protected.

1.  Know who you are dealing with

Always access online banking by typing the bank's web address into your web browser.  Never go to a website from a link in an email and enter personal details.  If in doubt, contact the bank on an advertised number.

2.  Check our website

If in doubt, a good place to get help and guidance on how to stay safe online is our website.  Check regularly for specific information and guidance on protecting your PC and yourself online.

3.  Use only trusted PCs

Only use your own PC or one at work - computers you can trust.  If you have to use a 'public' computer, for example in a library or internet cafe, make sure that no-one can see you sign in and change your password the next time you sign in.

4.  Check your statement

If you notice anything irregular on your account contact us immediately.  You should also consider shredding all bank correspondence that contains details of your bank account.

If you are at all suspicious - or are simply worried about any aspect of your online banking - don't worry.  Call us straight away on 08456 02 00 00.  We'll get it checked out for you.
