Protect your details

Like many things in life, this is really about good old common sense.  Think of your online security as being similar to looking after your house or your wallet.

With your house you always lock the door.  With your wallet, you don't leave it lying on a cafe table.

So with your online details, you should:

  • Never write down your password or security details for online banking
  • Never divulge these details to anyone
  • Neverenter personal or financial information unless you know the website and it uses SSL encryption
  • Never use your online password at any non-banking sites
  • Neverleave your computer unattended when signed into online banking

And you should:

  • Always use a password that would be difficult to guess - We recommend that you use a mixture of letters and numbers in both upper and lower case for your password.  Don't use names in their usual form (E.g. m4X13 is better than Max)
  • Always make sure you sign out of the service by selecting the 'Sign Out' button
  • Alwayschange your password or username immediately if you think someone else may be aware of them.
